Reddit autodesk sketchbook vs artrage12/9/2023 Sketchbook Pro includes more tools than Procreate, another professional-level creation app, though not as many options for canvas-size and resolution. Final Verdict: One of the most useful features of SketchBook Pro software is that it includes a library of over 4000 sketches which you can easily refer to whenever you need to get some inspiration for your next drawing. Krita supports animation functions, including audio, and comes with premade templates. Like other sketching apps, its pen-based but is especially useful for creating comic art with premade panels. It would be nice to see a few improvements (such as a select tool, and for the Android version, a smudge tool), but all in all, it's an excellent tool. Krita is free, open-source software that works for Windows, Mac, and Linux users. Teens can pin their most-used tools to their canvas and reset them easily in the settings, making pinning tools for specific projects easy. The options for tools, pens, and stamps are outstanding. The app does offer an option for pen only, which lets artists use the stylus without hand pressure registering on the screen, so teens can draw with precision. The controls are exhaustive and intuitive, and maneuvering with both fingers and a stylus offers some ease in creation. Teens familiar with the desktop version of Sketchbook Pro will pick up the tablet version with no problems, but others will require some instruction and exploration to get comfortable. The app offers tools available in the desktop version with the ease of a sketchbook on the tablet. It is an excellent, professional-caliber tool designed by Autodesk, developers with a history of well-regarded apps for designers, engineers, and architects. Anyways, in the present day CSP is my main art program while I use SAI just for doodles and making silly low-effort/bad joke doodles to send to my friends and SO from time to time.ĮDIT: Thanks to everyone who answered! It’s really nice and interesting to see different perspectives from other digital artists who use different art programs and how their “art program journey” is like.Sketchbook Pro is a serious digital art tool not to be mistaken for the many simple drawing apps available. ArtRage is the best digital painting software for old-fashioned artists who want to feel like they’ve got real tools and colors in their hands. For me SAI’s brush engine didn’t mesh well with me anymore like it used to, and over time it felt like it was limiting me more instead. Autodesk Sketchbook is a very popular software for both beginners and professionals to transform their imagination into reality. I think the main reason why I don't mainly use SAI anymore is because I felt like my drawings weren't coming out as great like my drawings in CSP. At the time I bought CSP, I still used SAI (like 50/50), but over time it slowly transitioned out from being my priority program. I solely used it for 2-3 years until I was able to snag a permanent Clip Studio Paint license from one of their 50% off sales. Its used by many comic artists to do lines before heading into photoshop for colors. When I first started digital art back in 2016, PaintTool SAI v1 was my holy grail. It lacks depth when it comes to brush settings and color corrections, but if youre into line art this is probably the best choice.
